Following the retirement of the existing postholder, an exciting opportunity will arise to lead our multi award-winning Housing and Communities Service. The Service has a clear vision to put people at the heart of everything we do and delivers essential Clean, Green and Vibrant public services with and for the communities we serve including Housing and Housing Asset Services, refuse collection, recycling, grounds maintenance and bereavement services, our Risk Management Centre, Town Centre Regeneration and our unique Vibrant Communities Service. The Service also incorporates an ambitious Housing Capital Programme which is delivering new and improved homes for our communities as part of our Housing Asset Management Framework. The Housing and Communities Service has over 850 employees and an overall revenue budget of over £72M.
As Head of Service, you will be responsible for the strategic management of the Service and continuing our innovative transformational service redesign in order to meet the challenges emerging from COVID-19, contribute to the recovery and renewal of our communities and respond to the changing landscape of public service reform. As a member of the Council’s Management Team, you will contribute to the overall strategic direction of the Council and collaborate closely with our Community Planning Partners to ensure that we improve outcomes for our communities.
We are looking for an outstanding collaborative leader with excellent people and empowerment skills who brings energy, passion and creativity to this important role. You will have experience of leading a similar portfolio of Services at a senior level, effectively managing resources and a strong track record of delivering high-performing Services within the context of Best Value.

This is a permanent full time post based within Communities & Economy at The Council Headquarters, London Road, Kilmarnock.
The salary for this position is £88,165 per annum.
