Why we need you

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Sports Executive on a 12 month FTC or secondment opportunity. We need you to manage mutually benefitting relationships with 3rd party sports event partners (such as Edinburgh Marathon, UK Tri and Run4Charity). You’ll work with internal functions such as comms and marketing and support the delivery for the Sports Team strategy, which will help drive recruitment, income and engagement with our supporters. 

What will I be doing?

Make an impact every day by…

  • Working with the Sports Manager, account managing various relationships with 3rd party event partners across the portfolio. Includes managing annual cycle of each event within portfolio including managing the online registration platforms and waiting lists, monitoring supporter fundraising, updating event pages, opening/closing events and fulfilling on-the-day activities at events  

  • Play a key part in improving Sports Own Place enquiries from third party partners, ensuring data & comms are scheduled and leads converted to signing up to fundraise for CRUK.  

  • Responsible for creating and managing Sports Team web pages and producing innovative and bespoke content for our 3rd party advertising

  • Play a key part in our CRUK on the day team, including planning and delivery “On the day experiences” working with our operation teams and 3rd parties to coordinate this. This includes managing and working with our training partner Running With Us, and  leading on recruitment and management of our “On the Day” volunteers

  • Develop internal relationships with multiple teams across Cancer Research UK to maximise our internal Sports Team brand & opportunities, including the Corporate team and SLFEO.

  • Leading on Volunteer recruitment

  • Working with the Sports Manager, and collaboratively with procurement & legal teams, manage contractual negotiations and legal agreements.

What skills are you looking for?

You’ll be able to bring to the role…

  • Experience of account or relationship management

  • Experience of managing relationships with external stakeholders 

  • Experience of managing website content and using CRM systems  

  • Good analytical and reporting skills  

  • Proven ability to manage own time effectively and can work well under pressure  

  • Good strategic thinking skills  

  • Willingness to work unsocial-able hours during event season

  • Proven ability of agreeing and meeting financial targets.
