You will work as part of the Short Breaks Team to provide leadership and support to a multi-disciplinary team of staff and volunteers. 

Ensure the effective development and delivery of the Short Breaks Service. Creating and developing partnerships in localities with carers, voluntary and statutory partners, sharing learning and providing leadership and line management for front line staff.

Key Duties

Team Management Responsibilities

Ensure the effective development and delivery of the Short Breaks Service. Creating and developing partnerships in localities with carers, voluntary and statutory partners, sharing learning and providing leadership and line management for front line staff.

·       Undertake all HR functions including recruitment, professional development and appraisal

·       Line manage staff as identified by the Team Manager (Independent Living Services)

·       Ensure the appropriate recruitment, support and management of volunteers to support the development of work in the team

·       Complete monitoring and evaluation frameworks including any reporting required for the team, with support from the Communications & Quality Team

·       Identify opportunities for income generation and undertake the completion of funding applications

·       To deputise for the Team Manager (Independent Living Services) as appropriate

·       To be available as necessary out of normal office hours on an emergency basis

Ensure the implementation of the Protecting People policy, by supporting staff to adhere to the guidelines when dealing with child

·       protection and adult support and protection issues.

·       To carry out any other duties commensurate with the level of the post, as directed by the Team Manager (Independent Living Services) and the Chief Executive Officer

Service-specific Responsibilities:

 

·       To provide leadership to a team of staff and volunteers delivering the Short Breaks Service within the wider Independent Living Services Team

·       To undertake operational management responsibility for the support provided to young, adult carers and disabled people by members of the team

·       Identify, develop and implement solutions in partnership with the localities teams resulting in improved outcomes for carers, their families and the community which could be scaled up or replicated in other localities and work with key partners to facilitate this

·       Develop and ensure delivery of the service that is co-designed and co-delivered with carers and partners

·       Create and develop links with strategic partnerships and ensure that the work contributes to the shaping of local services

·       Ensure collaboration with other Centre colleagues including the Carers Services Team and the Communications and Quality Team

·       Ensure links and connections for sharing learning to improve local service delivery for carers and their families

·       Ensure the programme performance is effectively monitored and managed to meet the identified outcomes.

 

General Duties

To maintain accurate and confidential records
To work within the Centre’s existing and new policies and procedures
To work within the Centre’s multi-disciplinary team to ensure that all carers and disabled people receive the best service possible
To undertake all necessary training as identified with the Team Manager (Independent Living Services)
Produce reports, research and strategies to inform management, Board and external stakeholders as requested
To undertake any other duties as required ensuring the development and success of Dundee Carers Centre and the Dundee Carers Partnership
