The role exists within the Market Data Services team, part of Global Investment Operations.

The team have a number of key responsibilities:

  • Procurement of information services and market data from 3rd party vendors;

  • Managing supplier relationships with these vendors, including the use of scorecards, KPI's etc

  • Financial management of the overall Information Services budget for abrdn

  • Liaise with users across the company to develop the market data strategy and identify solutions based on the future demand

Role Purpose

Reporting to the Market Data Operations Manager, this role is focused on delivering a strong BAU service to users of services from major data vendors such as Bloomberg, Factset, LSEG and MSCI.

The Service team is central to the operation of the Market Data function as it includes ownership of the pipeline of daily work into the team and is the main point of contact for users in our global offices.

The role holder has accountability for:

  • Presenting a professional service to stakeholders across abrdn

  • Supporting service reviews with vendors

  • Demand management and fulfilment of requests

  • Actively monitor actual system usage to ensure value is obtained and to feed into renewal discussions

  • Support attestation of Exchange Use and System Access

  • Support vendor audits and schedule of usage requests

  • Liaising with Relationship Managers to ensure the user requirements are reflected in negotiations

  • Work with the Financial Controller to ensure data/service usage and the commercial terms are correctly recorded

  • Ensuring that, where possible, Market Data is used across abrdn within the terms of the licences and actively promote best practice in this area

  • Work with the Financial Controller to ensure the commercial terms are correctly recorded

  • As required, assist the Financial Controller with payments and invoices.

Key Outcomes

  • Maintaining an audit trail for all contracts and commercial agreements

  • Supplier governance for the performance of contracted services

  • Maintaining accurate records of Market Data services deployed

  • Ensuring commercial terms are correctly recorded on the Contract Management system

  • Ensuring that abrdn receives value for money in respect of all externally purchased market data and information services

  • Maintain documentation on procedures and processes of the role

  • Help ensure that appropriate controls are in place so market data is used within the terms of the licences
