An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of North Lanarkshire Council’s arboriculture team. Based at Strathclyde Country Park you will work as part of a team and assist in the day to day delivery of an effective and efficient Arboriculture Service, particularly the delivery of a tree inspection programme, and help to ensure the delivery of a high quality professional service that maximises the resources available, delivers positive outcomes and meets the needs of our customers and service users.
You must be motivated, and well organised and it essential that you have a Level 3 professional arboricultural qualification as a minimum (such as BTEC National Diploma or Technician’s Certificate in Arboriculture). In addition you must have sound knowledge of arboricultural principles and operations including a strong knowledge and awareness of health and safety matters related to arboricultural duties.
You will be responsible for undertaking a programme of tree inspections across North Lanarkshire and will assist in the identification of priority works. You will require to operate a range of machinery and equipment including; chainsaws, brushcutters, wood chippers etc. In order to undertake your duties you must be physically fit to undertake the walked inspections, operate the necessary tools and machinery and able to work at height.
You will have the ability to ultilise Microsoft office packages to create and update records and will have problem solving skills and the ability to show initiative. With a customer focused approach you will have excellent communication skills and demonstrate a polite and professional manner.
A driving license including categories B+E and the ability to travel throughout North Lanarkshire is essential for this role.
Week 1: Monday to Thursday 7.15am to 5.00pm
Week 2: Tuesday to Friday 7.15am to 5.00pm
