About the Job

The technician role is a crucial part of the operations process and ensures that the best management of our salmon is undertaken. We need our technicians to strive for continuous improvement and deliver on all aspects of farm work to keep the team on track and performing well. The job includes, but it not limited to:

  • Leading on feed, control and inspection of fish
  • Operation and maintenance of the RAS systems
  • Monitoring water quality
  • Monitoring and maintaining fish health and welfare
  • General fish husbandry
  • Respond to hatchery alarms when assigned on-call
  • Proactive approach to Health & Safety practices throughout the hatchery
  • General farm tasks to keep the whole operation running

Ideal candidates

The ideal candidate will have an interest in the aquaculture industry and be willing to continuously improve their skills and knowledge. This is an exciting opportunity  They will be willing to expand their understanding and work hard on the job.

  • A degree in Biological sciences, or equivalent, is advantageous
  • Previous experience in freshwater operations will be an advantage, but not essential, as training will be provided
  • Flexible approach to working to meet the demands of the job
  • High degree of computer literacy is essential.
  • Self-motivated, able to work well in a large team.
  • Good communication & planning skills.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to understand the aims of the site and to support the rest of the team to achieve these
  • Respect for the need for safe working practices
  • Drivers licence is essential. No driving licence? Don’t worry, we can help with the cost of lessons

The position is permanent, with a working pattern of 40 hours per week or an average of 40 hours where your shift pattern rotates over more than one week. The successful candidate will also be expected to be part of a weekly alarm rota and will be required to stay on site providing 24 hours call out cover.
