St John’s RC Academy is the only Roman Catholic all through school in Scotland and indeed the largest all-through school in the country. We are looking for our next Headteacher and Campus Leader for this unique setting, someone who will be able to help realise our vision.

You will have the privilege of seeing our young people grow from a very young age into adulthood and will play a key role in the education of those who attend our school across the Perth and Kinross. We are an inclusive and diverse school, serving a community that is home to children, parents and carers, and staff from a range of backgrounds.
We are looking for someone who has a creative and innovative approach, who is passionate about making a difference to the development and delivery of high-quality learning and teaching, which meets the needs of all 1150 children and young people, aged 2-18, at St John’s RC Academy from all areas of Perth & Kinross.
You will lead by example and have a proven track record of driving improvement and of progressing your own continuous professional development. You must be a practicing catholic and have a Catholic Teaching Certificate (CTC).
You will be supported by two Primary Deputes, two Secondary Deputes and a Business Manager, through the Headteacher Networks, Local Management Groups, the Roman Catholic Church, Catholic Head Teachers Association Scotland (CHAS), as well as by Education and Children’s Services School Improvement Team,

The Head Teachers Education and Training (Scotland) Regulations 2019 require candidates who are appointed to their first permanent Head Teacher post from 1 August 2020 to have attained the Standard for Headship. If you have not gained this qualification, appointment can only be made on a fixed term basis for maximum period of 30 months. Perth & Kinross Council are committed to supporting candidates gain this qualification.

The school is based on the banks of the River Tay. Perth and Kinross encompasses some of the most beautiful scenery in Scotland, while still being accessible and well serviced with local facilities. Perth, Scotland’s newest city, is the area’s hub, providing culture, shopping, leisure and nightlife.
