MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES, ROYAL EDINBURGH HOSPITAL (REH)

SPECIALIST  PHARMACIST Band 7

PERMANENT Post 1.0 WTE + EDC

£40,872 - £47,846 (plus Medium Secure Unit RRP)

We are seeking an enthusiastic, driven specialist clinical pharmacist to join the mental health team delivering pharmacy services to the Royal Edinburgh and Associated Services Division. The post holder will lead on delivery of a high-quality clinical pharmacy service to the medium secure Orchard Clinic for East of Scotland.

The post holder will work as part of a team of clinical pharmacists providing a service to identified Mental Health directorates. Key areas for patient focused care include provision of pharmaceutical care to vulnerable patients, medication history reviews, provision of a medicines information service, maintenance of a high-dose antipsychotic monitoring system, monitoring adherence to the Mental Health Act, patient/carer education. The successful provision of this service relies on multidisciplinary working. The post holder will also have close links with other members of the pharmacy team across NHS Lothian

The post holder will be a UK registered pharmacist with relevant postgraduate training and proven experience in delivery of pharmaceutical care in a secondary or primary care setting. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. This post requires PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland check. An independent prescribing qualification or willingness to obtain qualification is desirable for the post to enable the post holder to deliver direct clinical care to a defined patient caseload.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
