Shift Pattern: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 9.00am-5.00pm
South Lanarkshire Leisure & Culture are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Children’s Assistant to work at Lanark Library. The successful candidate will work as part of a team to promote literacy and the library service to parents and carers, nurseries, schools and local organisations.
Tasks include delivering activities and events for children from 0-16 to encourage literacy development and ensuring the children’s library is attractive for families to visit. It is essential that you have an enthusiastic and flexible approach and can demonstrate an enthusiasm for books and reading. You must have excellent communication and customer care skills.
As part of our approach to good practice and safer recruitment we carry out a number of pre-employment checks for example, Identity, Asylum and Immigration and employment history etc.
This post is excepted in terms of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 2003.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children.
Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by South Lanarkshire Council.
