Post:  Locum Consultant in Ophthalmology

BASE:  Inverclyde Royal Hospital, Greenock

PERIOD – 6 months in first instance

Full-time or Part-time

The Ophthalmology department in Greater Glasgow & Clyde employs 38 Consultant Ophthalmologists, covering all major sub-specialties. Ophthalmology clinics are held on 8 hospital sites, with ophthalmic surgery undertaken in 6 hospitals.

This is a Locum Consultant post for a General Ophthalmologist, available at Inverclyde Royal Hospital, Greenock to cover maternity leave.

The post is particularly suited to candidates with an interest in Medical Retina, but other sub-specialty interests can be considered.

Applications to undertake a full-time or part-time role will be considered.

If worked on a full-time basis (10 PAs), the locum post would involve 7 clinic sessions, 2 administrative sessions and 1 session for Supporting Professional Activity. The clinic sessions include acute referrals (eye casualties).

The locum post does not involve out-of-hours on-call duties.

The job plan and location of duties may be variable over the course of the contract period, in response to service requirements.

Applicants must have full GMC registration, a licence to practice and be eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
