It is East Lothian Council's policy that successful applicants will be placed on the first point of the salary scale.   The salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week).  Part-time hours will be pro-rated accordingly.

Shared Lives is a community/family based model that provides long term, short breaks and day support within people’s homes. It delivers safe, personal care with a unique personalised service, for lower costs than traditional forms of care.

Shared lives is based on relationships, sharing family and community life and provides commissioners with a model of care that leads to highly successful outcomes for the people concerned.

We are looking for a highly motivated registered social worker to support the Shared Lives Service, which manages and  coordinates approved Shared Lives Carers who offer accommodation and support within their own homes and families to vulnerable and disabled adults who prefer to live in an ordinary household.

As a Shared lives co-ordinator you will under detailed checks and assessments of potential new carers, prior to the matching and introductory stage. You will also be required to undertake regular reviews of carers and will be involved in the recruitment, selecting and training of carers, service delivery, administration and financial tasks and ongoing support

This is a 17.5 hours post and we are looking for someone to work three days a week and days/times can be negotiated if successful.

Secondments may be considered. Current permanent employees  wishing to apply for this temporary post as a secondment should discuss it with their current line manager in the first instance.

 

Job Details

To develop and support a wide range of carer based resources and contribute to the recruitment, preparation, assessment, supervision and support of carers to provide an Shared Lives Service for long term, respite and day care, etc. for vulnerable adults and older people in their own homes.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
Educated to Degree/Professional Diploma in Social Work, Health & Social 
Care, Promoting Independent Living or equivalent recognised discipline. 
SSSC registration.

Driving Licence
As the duties of this role require you to effectively travel to successfully undertake the full remit of the role, you must hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle.*

PVG Membership
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
