Why do you need me?

To assist the “Time for Me” service in Mid Argyll by carrying out the following duties and promoting the aims and values of our service:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Building a sensitive and caring relationship
  • Building these relationships by spending time with service users in their home providing companionship and emotional support
  • Supporting service users
  • Refraining from making judgements about service users, their situations or their circumstances
  • Establishing and maintaining appropriate boundaries
  • Being aware of and working within Dochas Centre policies and being accountable for their practice
  • Respecting confidentiality with the Dochas Centre confidentiality policy
  • Reporting back to the co-ordinator and clarifying any points of concern
  • Cooperating with administrative procedures
  • Working in a non-discriminatory manner
  • Not exposing service users to abuse or exploitation

What skills and abilities do I need to have?


Good communication skills, be able to relate to service users

Listening and responding to people sensitively                             

Friendly, welcoming manner                                                          

Reliability and honest             


Availability and Flexibility

Available to work at times that meet the needs of service users       

Flexible in relation to times or work and locations                            


Induction training to be undertaken                                                 

Willingness to participate in training events, group or individual        


Car driver and access to car (Essential)                                                      

What ongoing support will there be? The Dochas staff will be available to speak to if you have any worries or problems you want to share.
