Do you know an NFT from an N64? Are you a gaming senior leader who can confidently lead and deliver our commercial gaming and interactive strategy? Can you open doors to grow, expand and capitalise on iconic brands like Bluey, Doctor Who & Top Gear?
 

Reporting to the Managing Director, Consumer Products & Licensing, the Global Director, Gaming & Interactive will lead our commercial and licensing strategy, oversee a diverse portfolio of projects, and acquire new business. To be successful in this role you will be a gaming expert and respected senior leader within the industry. Prioritising brand protection and maximising potential return on every deal, you will have a proven track record for delivering and executing ambitious growth strategies.

Taking the lead on complex licensing deals, you will be an excellent communicator who can think creatively and strategically about the best ways to exploit our most popular brands. You will be across the latest market intel and identify emerging trends and technology – maximising opportunities and making sure we’re leading the way amongst peers. You will be a decisive and commercially minded leader; someone who can manage multiple projects, and influence across a large and complex organisation as well as the wider industry.

The Gaming & Interactive team manages the licensing of key brands to partners in both traditional and emerging sectors, e.g. console, mobile and extended reality as well as exploring the commercial potential in Web 3.0 technologies and markets, e.g. NFTs and metaverse. 

BBC Studios, a global content company with bold British creativity at its heart, is a commercial subsidiary of the BBC Group, supporting the licence fee and enhancing programmes for UK audiences.

Role Responsibility

  • Maximise the commercial value of BBC Studios gaming and interactive rights through licensing and partnership
  • Identify and develop opportunities that will deliver revenue growth and profit with a focus on franchise brands.
  • Represent BBC Studios in the market and industry bodies to promote BBCS commercial interests
  • Open doors with external potential partners and be our in-house thought leader on strategic gaming related decisions, focusing on the right strategic priorities and pushing back when required.
  • Oversee all operational activity, including editorial, manufacturing, supply chain, and production activities such that we deliver financial targets, adhere to BBC policies and manage risk.
  • Manage all operating costs to meet or improve against budget
  • Recruit, lead, motivate, develop and manage the performance of direct reports, building a high calibre team with the skills and capabilities needed to deliver the required results

Are you the right candidate?

  • Expertise and knowledge of industry trends and emerging platforms and technologies
  • Commercial acumen combined with strategic thinking and complex problem solving
  • Proven ability to manage teams and drive growth plans
  • Demonstrable record of achieving business revenue targets  
  • Strong communication skills to influence & network externally and internally
  • Ability to negotiate desired outcomes with partners, while maintaining close working relationships
