Business & Commercial Banking (BCB) and Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) Chief Controls Office plays a key role in proactively keeping our customers, clients and the bank safe as we transform the way we do business and deliver good customer outcomes through the management of risks end to end; simplifying, improving and automating the control environment.

Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Manager Regulatory Controls team, this is an outstanding opportunity to undertake a Assistant Manager’s role within the End-to-End Control Frameworks team.  We collaborate with colleagues within the various coverage, product, delivery, platform areas and across the group to ensure ongoing compliance against our CMA and Tax Risks that impact our customers, clients and businesses; produce analysis and insight, and challenge and advise the business to ensure risks are understood, mitigated and controlled.

The Regulatory Controls Assistant Manager role is responsible for supporting the business and ensuring compliance on key regulatory activity across BCB.  You will be part of a small team building specialist knowledge in regulatory activities. We collaborate with colleagues within the various product and coverage areas and across the group to manage, investigate and evaluate Risk, develop policy recommendations, and challenge and advise the business to ensure risks are understood, mitigated and controlled. The successful colleague will need to engage with senior partners and build strong networks, both internally and externally of BCB Chief Controls Office.

The role would suit a confident, highly self-motivated individual who loves problem solving, challenging the status quo and generating innovative ideas. The role can be fast paced and would suit someone who is looking to build a career in a head office role and gain a broader view of how BCB operates.

Core activities:

  • Support annual attestation activity for CMA Remedies and FATCA/CRS. Working with policy teams and internal stakeholders to ensure that activities are completed within milestone plans and to required standards.

  • Using data and exceptions reports, identify areas of further investigation and report on findings.

  • Perform Business Key Control Testing where necessary and provide feedback on compliance to stakeholders and Heads of Function.

  • Upskilling and supporting the business by preparing communications and attending team meetings to share your specialist expertise on procedures and processes.

  • Ensuring robust controls are in place for adherence to regulatory/policy standards.

  • Provide input into BCB & CIBs Risk assessments where appropriate.

  • Support implementation of Group led projects and programmes where appropriate.

  • Deputise and participate for Regulatory Controls Senior Manager in key forums.

  • Ability to build and adapt processes as required and drive future processes without the need for established guidelines and processes.

  • Confidence to challenge ways of working, looking for an action on simplification ideas where appropriate.
