This alternative provision will focus on social skills, life skills, communication and behaviour for those children in a small, flexible, adaptive environment tailored to the needs of the child or young person. Tasks undertaken would be around building social and emotional literacy and self-esteem with a focus on play, practical activities, discussion and modelling positive interactions while maintaining clear, predictable routines which allow the children to develop a sense of safety. There may be some expectation for curricular work to be undertaken alongside young people as appropriate in order to support attainment.

This will be a tandem provision between primary and secondary colleagues, 0.6 fte (21 hours) to each, within the same building in Turriff, mornings 5 days per week. You would be part of a small team of two PSAs as well two ASL teachers planning alongside mainstream colleagues.

This role may be considered as a secondment opportunity. Staff will be line managed by Lee Menzies (Secondary) and Caroline Roche (Primary).

Deliver quality education to assigned pupils, by supporting early intervention and prevention with a specific focus on Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Social and Emotional Behaviour Needs, contributing to the professional, corporate life of the school in relation to pupils, staff and appropriate external bodies within the agreements of the Local Negotiating Committee for Teachers and the Scottish Negotiating Committee for Teachers.

There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.

This is a network post. Although the vacancy is for the Turriff Network, the hours are currently allocated to Turriff Academy but you may be required to work within the Turriff CSN.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Salary for this post will be in accordance with SNCT agreements. Applicants must be or eligible to be fully GTC Scotland registered.
