Ensure compliance with statutory and legislative requirements, planning permissions and environmental permit conditions; specifically, adherence to all health and safety, environmental, quality control and work practice policies and procedures applicable to the EfW (CHP) Facility.

·   Manage compliance with Environmental Permit and Environment Agency reporting requirements; formulate Health and Safety procedures to ensure adherence to Health and Safety law and HSE guidance; manage aspects of planning conditions and provide evidence to the Client of contractual compliance

·   Devise and implement safety rules to manage the movement of traffic on the site (trucks, cars, fork lifts, pedestrians etc.)

·   Advise and provide technical support to the Facility Manager/Operations Manager and Maintenance Manager regarding health and safety legislation 

·   Advise and provide technical support to the Facility Manager/Operations Manager and Maintenance Manager regarding environmental legislation 

·  Development and preparation of health and safety reporting including statistical analysis and proposals for further improvements


·   Degree in Environmental Science or Chemistry would be an advantage


·   Knowledge and experience in the waste management industry

·   Experience with dealing with the EA/SEPA

·   Knowledge of the following would be an advantage:

·   EN ISO 14956 – covers QAL1 suitability of equipment

·   BS EN 14181 – covers QAL2, QAL3, AST

·   EA Technical Guidance Note M1 – sampling requirements for stack emissions monitoring

·   EA Technical Guidance Note M2 – monitoring of stack emissions to air

·   EA Technical Guidance Note M18 – monitoring of discharges water and sewer

·   EA Technical Guidance Note M20 – quality assurance of CEMS

·   The Environment Agency’s quick guides

·   The Industrial Emissions Directive as transposed into The Environmental Permitting Regulations 2013


·   Pollution Inventory

·   Familiar with OMA/SEPA audits and with being audited by regulators

·   Analytical ability, enthusiastic and a competent problem solver with a practical approach to solving engineering problems

·   PC literate and capable of learning how to use new software systems

·   Good communication and organisational skills

·   Self-motivated and able to work without supervision

Able to cope with numerous issues simultaneously and capable of prioritising tasks accordingly
