Duration: Permanent, Full time 

Job Purpose:

To provide technical expertise which contributes to maintaining the road network in good condition.

 

Aberdeen City Council Roads Projects Team

Aberdeen City Council is committed to substantial capital investment programme over the coming years. Major projects currently underway include the South College Street Junction Improvements, Berryden Corridor Improvements and South Harbour Link Road (City Region Deal). In addition to the Council’s City Centre Masterplan a multi-million pound regeneration of Aberdeen City Centre which includes improvements to the public realm, active travel and sustainable transportation interventions continues at pace, following the impacts of the COVID19 pandemic. Alongside this city centre focus is the recently announced region wide Bus Priority and Bus Rapid Transit programme.

Given this major programme of activity, Aberdeen City Council needs to expand its civil and highway engineering resource to progress design, procurement, project management, works and contract supervision activities. We are therefore pleased to offer a number of job opportunities for engineers who are excited by the prospect of being involved in these transformational programmes.

Requirements

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

  • A Chartered Engineer/ Incorporated Engineer with the Engineering Council and a member of a relevant institution.

Or

  • Educated to Degree level in a relevant engineering discipline.

And

  • Membership of a relevant Engineering Council licenced institution actively pursuing Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.

 

The post holder must be prepared to:

Project management including design, contractual and financial control.
Ability to select techniques, procedures and methods to undertake
engineering tasks.
Ability to contribute to the design and development of engineering solutions.
Ability to deliver projects and evaluate design solutions.
Ability to use oral and written methods effectively for the communication of
technical and other information to professionals, elected members and the
public.
Assist in developing project programmes and effectively manage tasks &
resources to deliver outcomes on time.
Ability to manage and apply safe systems of work.
Management of quality processes.
Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
ICT literacy.
