About the department

abrdn are one of the largest real estate investors in the UK and Europe. 

Making up an important part of our Real Assets capability, abrbn Real Estate follows a dynamic investment process which is guided by the Research and Strategy (R&S) Team and the “house view” that they formulate. This market leading R&S capability is carried out by team of fifteen professionals spread across four offices globally.


About the role

We are seeking a passionate, committed and experienced investment research professional to join the Research & Strategy team to focus on UK Real Estate market research.

Outcomes and responsibilities of the Senior Research Analyst will include:

  • Production of market forecasts, market insight and commentary as well as fund and asset level support.

  • Maintenance and enhancement of proprietary abrdn models 

  • Production of the UK Houseview material through presentations and written commentary

  • Working across the UK R&S Team in order to play a key role in influencing investment decisions through articulation of market views, Investment Committee papers and involvement in asset level underwriting

  • Contribution of insightful written and oral presentations to team members, fund managers and clients on topical issues and market analysis

  • Responding to information requests from all areas of the business including fund managers, asset managers, transactions teams, sales and distribution teams as well as marketing and other investment divisions within abrdn

Skills and Experience

  • Significant experience within direct real estate (e.g. asset management, acquisitions, portfolio management, research), experience in real estate funds (e.g. primaries, secondaries, co-investments, JVs) or experience with real estate securities is required for the role.

  • Strong understanding of major investment markets across all sectors

  • Proven ability to produce high quality thought leadership and market outlooks

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong communication skills (writing, presenting etc.); ability to convey strong conviction and influence decisions

  • Analytical and technical skills, with expertise in programmes like Excel, Power BI and Python
