Duration:  Permanent. Full Time

Job Purpose:

This is an opportunity to join Aberdeen City Council's Estates Team.  The team require a range of professional property skills and this would give the job holder an opportunityto work in professional property valuation, CPO, estates management, acquisition and disposal projects.  

The post holder will acquire all types of heritable property for the operational requirements of City Council services. Dispose of all types of heritable property declared surplus by the City Council through sale, lease and licence. Manage corporate projects, property projects and give property advice to Corporate Working Groups, particularly with regard to valuation and property management issues, together with instructing and directing technical and other professional colleagues in the Council and external contractors in connection with such projects and disposals. Understand the principles of good property Asset Management and the Council’s Property Asset Management Plan. Be able to give strategic and specific property advice.

Requirements

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

Educated to Degree level in a property related discipline.

A member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) (General Practice).

Be a Registered valuer with the RICS or be capable of becoming a Registered Valuer.

Current UK Driving Licence

Responsibilities

The post holder is expected to demonstrate:

Experience in the management of Commercial property.

Experience of managing rent reviews, lease renewals and new lettings.

Experience in the disposal and acquisition of heritable land and property.

Strong Communication skills

Experienced negotiator

Understanding of the concept of Best Value.

Be able to motivate and manage a team of different professional and technical staff.

Demonstrate commercial awareness
