The Glaitness Centre provides a wide range of high quality support services for adults who have Physical Disabilities and their families. This includes supporting adults in their own homes within the complex, a single occupancy respite unit and a Day Service three days a week. We are seeking a motivated person, with good organisational, communication and supervisory skills to assist in managing our team and who demonstrates a willingness to support services across Orkney Health and Care.

The role involves developing individual support packages with service users to secure their personal care and domestic support requirements are fully met and personal goals are clearly identified, in line with current policy. The post holder will participate in quality control systems such as observed practice of staff and reviews of care packages. You will also provide supervision and support to staff, alongside ensuring that relevant training is organised for them, playing an active role in induction and on-going in house training.

In order to fulfil the duties required of this role you will evidence the ability to implement and co-ordinate on an ongoing basis high quality support packages, manage and provide support for a varied staff team, keep up to date with current best practice and legislation, communicate effectively and adapt and work flexibly in a constantly pressured environment. You will require the skill to work in a challenging and highly supported role while promoting the opportunity to encourage everyone involved to contribute to service development.

You should hold an SVQ 3 in Health and Social care or other relevant professional qualification to meet SSSC professional qualification requirements AND either hold or achieve a Management qualification to meet SSSC management qualifications criteria within a 5 year period from initial appointment. You should also register with the SSSC within 6 months of appointment.

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirement of the Service.
