West Lothian Council are committed to far reaching changes to the way we deliver our Education Services. Broxburn Academy is a six-year comprehensive school for over 880 students from the Broxburn catchment area. The school is a PPP1 school which has excellent facilities used by both the school and local community.

The school has over 100 staff, around 75 of whom are teaching staff. The Senior Leadership Team is made up of one Head Teacher, three Depute Head Teachers and a Business Support Manager. The wider Extended Leadership Team is made up of an additional five Principal Teachers Curriculum and 9 Principal Teachers who all have a range of curricular area responsibilities alongside a whole school strategic leadership remit including: Numeracy; Literacy; Health and Wellbeing; STEM; Career-Long Professional Learning; Community Engagement; Additional Support Needs; Transition and Skills for Learning, Life and Work.

To reflect the strategic priority of creating a leadership culture across the school, there are also a number of Development Post holders, leading and managing initiatives focused on improving specific experiences and outcomes for the school community. The school has 6 associated primary schools: Broxburn, Kirkhill, Uphall, Pumpherston and Uphall Station and Dechmont. Some students from outwith the catchment area attend based on parental choice. There is close working relationship between the cluster schools.

A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential. Strong values such as Social Justice, Equity and Inclusion and a track record of building positive relationships with young people are also essential.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment and the cost will be met by the candidate.

The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18.
