an Island Carer Support Worker for Coll

North Argyll Carers Centre is a value-based charity, which supports those who look after a family member or friend due to illness, disability, frailty or addiction on an unpaid basis. 

We are seeking to recruit a Carer Support Worker based on Coll. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and make a real difference to the lives of unpaid carers in your community. As it is an outreach role your home will be your work base, though you will be connected in with the wider Carer Support Team via regular virtual meetings and training sessions, and there will be some requirement to attend training and team activities in Oban. Your role will be to provide emotional and practical support to unpaid carers on Coll. You will work with both the Young Carer Support Team and the Adult Carer Support Team.

 

The post requires:

Excellent interpersonal skills including active listening and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
The ability to prepare formal reports and maintain appropriate records 
Computer skills including the use of email, internet and Microsoft Office applications 
An understanding of the issues affecting unpaid carers and the community on Coll
Willingness to travel independently around Coll to deliver outreach support, and wider afield as necessary to attend training, meetings and events.
 

Use of car and a current driving licence essential. 

 

Hours: 8 hours per week with possibility of some additional sessional work, by agreement,  as required

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £12.35 per hour
