About the team

An exciting permanent Lead PMO Analyst opportunity has become available within abrdn’s Adviser Operations team. This is a specialised team of business operations, technology, and change professionals, supporting the development and transformation of abrdn’s award winning platforms; Wrap and Elevate, as well as the broader change agenda of abrdn’s Adviser business.

This role will be within the Programme Management Office team, whose remit is to ensure that change delivery is adhering to robust governance, reporting and controls, thereby allowing delivery quality and standards to be maintained.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Project & Transformation Governance, your primary role will be to provide the core processes underpinning change prioritisation, planning and delivery; governance, financial reporting, status reporting, planning, resource, RAID management and quality assurance services whilst embedding common methodologies, tools, and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Key role to play in the work/tasks/activities of the function.

    • Supporting key portfolio management processes (e.g. prioritisation, planning, resource capacity management, change control, and financials).

    • Supporting key processes required within the project/programme environment (e.g. governance, status reporting, resource management, RAID management, financial management and benefits management).

    • Providing a range of portfolio reporting and MI to support overall portfolio governance and decision making.

    • Providing quality assurance services to ensure strong governance over our Change Delivery process, ensuring programme / project managers adhere to the process and associated controls.

  • Dealing with more complex BAU tasks. Takes a proactive approach and uses professional/technical expertise to diagnose and resolve issues within the business (e.g. competence in area of specialism, or understanding of wider business function).

  • Working through solutions and making decisions independently (e.g. within projects), may start inputting into strategic direction with head of team - seen as authority in their area.

  • Coordinates multiple pieces of work, helping to manage the workflow throughout the team/delegating work.

  • Contributes to the development of new/improved processes and systems and leads on the implementation of improvements in a defined area.

  • May supervise a small team of individuals, selecting, developing, and evaluating team members to ensure the efficient operation of function.

  • May incorporate providing development support to enable career progression for team members, providing experience in coaching/mentoring.

  • Takes leadership over projects; conducting meetings, and communicating ideas (e.g. internally, third party or possible clients). Presenting to team (e.g. new tasks, change to task).

  • Uses initiative to anticipate business needs (e.g. critical thinking - cost/risk/automation - as a team need to support business priorities) and respond accordingly.

  • Provides training to colleagues or partners on an area of specialism to upskill and educate others in the business support services provided. Educating on specific area of expertise and related processes/policies.

Minimum candidate requirements:

  • Has relevant academic qualification / working experience and extensive experience in similar PMO roles with a detailed understanding of PMO processes / guidelines including Governance Forums.

  • Able to operate with credibility through the application of specialist technical expertise.

  • Recognised as a subject matter authority in the team. (e.g. specific PMO processes,, Monthly/Quarterly MI reporting, Sharepoint, etc. ).

  • Up to date knowledge and in-depth understanding of external practices that affect specialist area in order to be able to affect change in line with the industry.

  • Good communication and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence at senior level (e.g. head of a team).

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to apply experience to resolve complex internal and external situations that may arise and to provide specialist guidance and advice to others.

  • Ability to lead a small team of individuals.

  • Excellent knowledge and proven experience of appropriate/relevant software and tools e.g. ServiceNow, Microsoft Office suite (MS teams), Sharepoint, PowerBI, DevOps.
