Job DeTailsGrade: 5A Hourly Rate: £13.02 - £14.15 Salary: £23,768.96 - £25,831.20 pro rata per annum (Term Time Only) Contract Duration: Permanent Please note successful applicants will be placed on the first point of the salary scale unless they meet certain criteria.
Role PurposeThe Pupil Support Assistant will work closely with young people, parents and teaching staff to ensure that all young people at Galashiels Academy attend school and will follow up on unexplained absences. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES * Work closely on matters of attendance, absence and truancy, including administration, with SLT, Pastoral staff and administrative staff. * Investigate unexplained absences and period truancy using SEEMiS. * Investigate and monitor absences. * Manage First Instance Register for young people at risk. * Provide assistance and support to young people to overcome barriers to learning and participation across the school. * Assist with the supervision of young people in corridors, social spaces and the school grounds during and outwith class times. * Provide administrative information and data on pupil absence to Pastoral, SLT and support staff as required. * Work with SLT and Pupil Support Staff on any attendance queries. * School First Aider.
Essential4 Standard Grades or equivalent (General level 3 or above) including English and Maths.
