Welder & Fabricator

We are recruiting skilled and experienced Welders & Fabricators to join our growing team in Stornoway, Isle of Lewis. This role suits individuals able to work on large assemblies covering a range of positional welding, predominantly in a MIG/MAG welding processes. Experience in shipbuilding or similar heavy metalwork industries is preferred.

Operating from our new shipyard in Stornoway and supported by our facility in Devon, we are a leading UK-based builder of Steel and Aluminium commercial workboats. Our portfolio spans aquaculture, marine tourism, and scientific research sectors both nationally and internationally. Working in collaboration with leading naval architects such as Damen Shipyards and Incat Crowther we have built a number of industry leading vessels. These include RRS Sir David Attenborough's workboat, Terror, which won Best Landing Craft in the 2020 Work Boat World Awards.

As we expand our footprint to Stornoway, we are seeking skilled individuals to join our team. We are in an exciting period of growth, which will see our current loyal and hardworking team of circa 25 employees develop and expand into two new ship building facilities in both Devon and Scotland. This expansion will support our vision to modernise shipbuilding in the UK, with the use of advanced technologies whilst upskilling and developing our valued team.

We are now looking for a Welder / Fabricator to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis at our new facility in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, working 40 hours per week.

Our Stornoway location is supported by our head office in Devon.

The Role
As a Welder / Fabricator, you will play a key role in the construction of market leading marine commercial vessels, including the first UK built, fully electric steel workboat.

Specifically, you will work on large assemblies covering a range of positional welding, predominantly using MIG and MAG welding methods.

Alongside a small, ambitious team, you’ll work collaboratively with the Design, Engineering and Drawing Office to provide feedback on internal design standards, drive efficiency and improve working practices.


About You
To be considered as a Welder / Fabricator, you will need:

- Experience of positional welding
- Skills and knowledge of handling heavy plate, parts and assemblies
- The ability to understand technical drawings
- Excellent attention to detail

Experience of shipbuilding or similar heavy metalwork industries would be beneficial to your application.
