This is an exciting new pilot role working with our Caithness KLICS team as our Wellbeing Officer. Based at our Head Office in Wick and covering groups in Caithness, you will be supporting our Young Carers, from both Primary Schools and High Schools, through various groups/locations and one to one sessions. Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
 

§  To provide a welcoming and comfortable environment for the Young Carers, running alongside our weekly group drop-in sessions for Young Carers /working on any issues/concerns and providing a safe and nurturing environment for the Young Carers.

§  To proactively liaise and work closely with Young Carers and their families and offer appropriate support where required. 

§  To introduce tips and techniques to our Young Carers to help support their wellbeing and mental health, empowering Young Carers and their families to take ownership of their pathways, whist offering emotional support.  

§  To consult with the Manager with regards to the Young Carers who require additional support and raise any emergency concerns to the Project Manager immediately.

§  To act, in the first instance, as advocate or representative for the Young Carers in introducing additional community-based projects who can provide support. 

§  To arrange self-assessments/evaluations for each Young Carer and provide a report after each session detailing all information relating to the sessions and any administrative duties required to fulfil the role.  

§  To maintain confidentiality of personal information relating to individual users of the service, being professional at all times and be particularly mindful of this during group sessions.

§  To be aware of the role and responsibilities during group sessions and one to one sessions with the children and their families.

§  To carry out any other duties that are reasonably required to fulfil the role.

Requirements

A full UK driving licence is required.  Previous experience of supporting young people’s wellbeing and mental health is essential.  Previous experience working with children and their families.

Trained in wellbeing/mental health/trauma & bereavement, although training will be provided.
