We seek a Maintenance Engineer, reporting to the Factory Manager, for our Glasgow plant, which operates 2 shifts, 5 days a week at present. This is a hands-on role and, ideally, you will have experience in the maintenance of Steam boilers, Hydraulic Systems, Compressed Air Systems.

Your duties would include:

  • Ensure all maintenance jobs are carried out safely, observing site rules and required risk assessments.
  • To service and repair all mechanical plant.
  • To undertake tasks in line with maintenance requisition requests.
  • Carry out scheduled planned maintenance tasks to maximise plant efficiency and minimise downtime.
  • Advise line management of potential plant problems.
  • Follow the company’s Health & Safety policies and procedures and ensure all relevant plant complies with PSSR and LOLER requirements.
  • Ensure the engineering workshop and offices are all maintained and operate to a high standard (organised, clean & tidy), including your own work areas.
  • Prioritise workload, in liaison with factory manager, to provide the most effective maintenance service possible.
Requirements
  • Proven (evidence of qualifications) training for hands on engineering skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills, as well as being able to work alone and/or as part of a team.
  • A good attitude to work and promoting and supporting the company’s values.
  • A flexible and responsive approach to work, with the ability to take responsibility and justify actions.
  • On rare occasions we may need you to respond to an out of hours call.
  • A basic knowledge of electrical systems although not essential, would be beneficial.
  • Higher education in electrical or mechanical engineering fields to HNC or HND level is desirable but not essential.
