Job Introduction

Heritage Portfolio are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Chef to join the team at our Central Production Kitchen in Leith, Edinburgh. We operate within some of Scotland’s leading cultural destinations, including Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, The Scottish National Portrait Gallery, V&A Dundee, Mansfield Traquair, the Signet Library and Perth and Musselburgh Racecourses.

With an emphasis on fresh, made from scratch cooking, our culinary teams execute outstanding catering and event services, from private dining, weddings and corporate clients to exceptional in-house café services. Under the guidance of our Head Chef and culinary development team, you will prepare and deliver a range of menus, from deli style retail offers to high end fine dining experiences, all with our overarching ethos of quality, seasonality, provenance and flavour at their heart.

Role Responsibility

  • Natural creative and innovative flair with a genuine love of food and an eye for detail
  • Broad ingredient knowledge and understanding of how to maximise flavour
  • Be able to follow recipes and specifications to ensure quality as standard
  • Maintain a focus on managing and communicating food allergens safely at all times
  • Provide exceptional high standards of food quality to the specifications agreed
  • Have a hard working, positive and reliable attitude
  • Excellent kitchen practise with the ability to prioritise and multitask in a high-volume catering environment
  • Flexibility in order to meet company demands, as well as being organised and adaptable with the ability to support all aspects of the kitchen
  • Support the Kitchen Manager and wider team by ensuring Health and Safety legislation is carried out correctly and all paperwork is recorded as required
  • Excellent levels of kitchen and personal hygiene
  • Good understanding of English, both written and orally

The Ideal Candidate

  • Be organised and adaptable with the ability to support all aspects 
  • Be motivated and excellent at working as part of a team with the ability to multitask and work to specific time frames agreed
  • Be able to follow recipes and specifications to ensure quality as standard as well as bringing new recipes and product development
  • Have a Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate

Package Description

Hours Per Week: 30

Rate Of Pay: £15.00 per hour 

Start Date: April 2024
