Toothbrushing Supervisor 4 hours per week (1 hour per day)

Temporary up to 3 July 2024
£26,452 - £26,760 pro rata / £13.71 - £13.87 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)

We are looking to provide supervised toothbrushing on 4 days per week, but would be willing to consider applications for fewer hours from anyone interested in helping deliver this important programme.

We are looking for positive and enthusiastic individuals to help deliver the Childsmile Toothbrushing Programme for children at both the Hope Primary School and Burray Primary School.

The post will involve organising and supervising children brushing their teeth as part of the NHS Orkney Childsmile Toothbrushing Programme. You will work on your own supervising children brushing their teeth, but you will have regular contact with the NHS Orkney Oral Health Team.

While your role is not to brush children’s teeth you will be there to encourage the children to brush their teeth well and develop this important lifetime habit. Appropriate and relevant experience of working with children is essential and a basic knowledge / interest in oral health improvement would be an advantage.

The hours are worked around school timetables and breaks 4 days per week.

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children.

Prospective applicants are invited to contact Karyn Tait, Oral Health Team Lead, NHS Orkney for further details at the Dental Department, The Balfour, Kirkwall, KW15 1NZ.

Further information is available from, and online applications can be made through www.myjobscotland.gov.uk/orkney

Closing Date: Sunday 7 April 2024

Please note that interview expenses are not payable for this post.
