HOURS: Full-time

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our Edinburgh Office.

About this opportunity

Our mission is to help customers feel confident and in control of their finances, now and into the future. We’re building a new future for financial wellbeing, helping customers understand the big picture and making it easy for them to protect what matters.  Our services are accessible for everyone, no matter what their income is or how comfortable they are with financial jargon, and we work hard to make sure we’re there for customers in the moments that matter. We’re bold and we love to experiment. We’re not afraid to try out new ways of working and we encourage teams to be flexible and adaptive.

As part of our Edinburgh based team, you will work to evolve our Digital Channels (native mobile, web, Internet Banking) by adding new functionality and propositions and evolving existing capability through Agile methodology. Primarily focused on our award-winning mobile app, microservice backend and GCP infrastructure; you will play a key part in all stages of development from ideation and refinement, through code build and on to production.

Why Lloyds Banking Group

Like the modern Britain we serve, we’re evolving. Investing billions in our people, data and tech to transform the way we meet the ever-changing needs of our 26 million customers. We’re growing with purpose. Join us on our journey and you will too.

What you’ll need

  • Professional working knowledge in building a mobile experience for variable screen sizes in variable versions of Android
  • Strong knowledge of Android SDK, Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices
  • Experience in Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, co-routines and performance tuning
  • Fantastic knowledge of the open-source Android ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks and benchmarking and optimisation
  • Proficient in Google's Android design principles, interface guidelines and code versioning tools, such as Git
  • Hands-on experience of continuous delivery across areas such as code reviewing; understanding of App architectures (i.e. MVVM, MVI) and you’ll be confident with best practices libraries

And any experience of these would be really useful

  • Cloud message APIs and push notifications
  • JavaScript WebView bridging, as well as knowledge of RESTful APIs and web services
  • Android Architecture Components

And it’s why we especially welcome applications from under-represented groups. We’re disability confident. So if you’d like reasonable adjustments to be made to our recruitment processes, just let us know

We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes:

  • A generous pension contribution of up to 15%
  • An annual performance-related bonus
  • Share schemes including free shares
  • Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping
  • 30 days’ holiday, with bank holidays on top

We keep your data safe. So, we'll only ever ask you to provide confidential or sensitive information once you have formally been invited along to an interview or accepted a verbal offer to join us which is when we run our background checks.  We'll always explain what we need and why, with any request coming from a trusted Lloyds Banking Group person.
