Tim Eagle MSP is seeking a full-time Constituency Casework and Engagement Assistant based in the Highlands and Islands Region to assist him with supporting his constituents. The role is a remote-working position and we will consider part-time options too.

Job Description


  • Managing constituent casework, and responding to public enquiries.
  • Keeping caseworker up-to-date by tracking, logging and recognising when to escalate issues.
  • Communicating with constituents on a wide range of issues, including sensitive matters.
  • Advocating on constituent's behalf with relevant bodies and organsations to assist and resolve matters.
  • Briefing the MSP on casework and trends.
  • Reviewing constituent records and ensuring GDPR requirements are met.
  • Keeping constituents regularly informed about the progress of their cases.
  • Maintaining knowledge about relevant policy developments.


  • Attending in-person and virtual constituent surgeries alongside the MSP in the Highlands and Islands Region.
  • Attending in-person and virtual meetings with stakeholders with the MSP in the Highlands and Islands Region.
  • Preparing briefings ahead of aforementioned meetings for the MSP in advance.
  • Liaising with community groups, including community councils, on emerging local issues. 

Essential requirements

  • Have excellent organisational skills while being flexible in prioritising workloads during busy times.
  • Have excellent communications skills, with accurate attention to detail and the ability to work effectively with colleagues.
  • Be patient and sensitive while remaining objective and open minded.
  • Be comfortable being in a front facing role explaining regulations such as GDPR to the general public.
  • Be acutely aware of the responsibility of representing those unable to do so themselves in certain situations.
  • Have a natural interest in helping people with a curiosity to probe for further information where required.
  • Have basic IT skills including using Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word.
  • Work in a confidential manner at all times.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Be prepared to travel to different parts of the Highlands and Islands Region when required.


  • Experience of using a case management system would be desirable.
  • Have research skills and policy knowledge.
  • A full driving licence and access to a car.
