We are currently seeking to recruit Facilities Assistants working varied hours, either full time, part time to join our team in Skye, working across both sites at Broadford and Portree Hospital.

The successful applicants will require to cover if required, all NHS Sites in the local geographical area, including Broadford and Portree Hospital and Health Centres if required. There is an opportunity to develop your skills and progress within the facilities department gaining professional qualifications, and this is an opportunity, for the right candidate to further your career.

A fleet vehicle is available for travelling to sites. A full clean driving licence is required.

These posts can be worked on a 2 week roster, working one weekend in two and the working hours can be flexible working between the hours of 7am and 7pm. These posts would suite candidates who would like to job share.

They will be responsible for ensuring high standards of cleanliness in line with local infection control policies and procedures, catering duties include regeneration of meals and preparation of salads, sandwiches and snacks. Meeting specified cleaning schedules, and promoting and maintaining high standards of cleanliness within the environment.  Applicants should hold a full, clean driving licence.

Rates of pay starting from £11.98 an hour with an attractive weekend working rate.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
