Job Description

The Maintenance Planner will ensure that the Ferry and Air Operations ICT systems and applications meet the needs of the Council in the delivery of the ferry and air services.

The post holder is responsible through the Team Leader - Engineering and Operations Support for the management and development of services and systems within Ferry Operations and other service applications where they interface with Ferry and Air systems.

The post holder will deliver the monitoring, management, maintenance and development of the technical functions and (the “back-end”) administration of existing and future systems and applications.

Specific tasks of the Maintenance Planner will include:

  • The overall management, maintenance and operation of the Maintenance Management System (MMS) and its associated server. This includes planned maintenance, corrected maintenance and stock control systems – and the initial generation of reports as required by Management.
  • The planning and upgrading of MMS software and equipment as required.
  • To supervise efficient operations of Technical Library, ensuring all certificates and legal documents are correctly logged, filed and recorded on the MMS.
  • Operation and upkeep of security access system within areas of Ferries – Infrastructure Services.
  • To line manage the Maintenance Planning Assistant including the implementation of personnel practice and procedure.

  • Salary shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £2,742 per annum (pro rata) and contracted overtime payment.
  • Permanent Full Time post for 42.0 Hours per Week , 52.18 weeks per year
  • A relocation package does not apply to this post
  • We will pay interview expenses from within Shetland
  • You must have the ability to travel throughout Shetland at short notice and where public transport is limited
  • We are happy to talk flexible working
