Argyll and Bute Care and Repair are an independent registered charity, funded primarily via the Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership. We provide practical, technical and financial advice and assistance to older and disabled clients to enable them to remain in safety and comfort in their own homes.
This is a permanent full time role (35hrs), 09.00 to 17.00 Mon to Friday, reporting to the Care and Repair Manager. Although you will be primarily supporting clients within the Helensburgh and Lomond area, you will also be responsible for managing some client projects throughout other areas of Argyll and Bute, as our business requirements demand. You will visit clients in their own homes, following referral from the Occupational Therapy service, to review and discuss the local authority disability grant application process and other funding applications to allow for essential major adaptation works to be completed. Adaptions include wet floor and level access showering, stairlifts, ramps, toileting, track and hoists and internal wheelchair access. Our CRO's manage the complete project and grant application process on behalf of their clients and therefore prepare all technical drawings, specifications, invite tenders, obtain consents and ensure that all works are completed satisfactorily. Our CRO's also offer advice and assistance to our client group in identifying and repairing building defects.
You will be entirely home-based and will require excellent IT and admin skills and be competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook email. Experience in producing basic technical drawings using computerised 2D technical drawing packages, e.g. NanoCad, is essential.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will be sympathetic to the daily needs and challenges faced by the elderly and/or disabled, in addition to an understanding of building construction methods and local authority building standards and planning regulations. You will be an excellent time manager and be able to demonstrate experience prioritising multiple projects.
A formal qualification, such as an HNC in Building Construction or similar, or associated trade experience is required. You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and listening and be able to talk confidently to clients, building contractors, product suppliers and our health service and local authority colleagues.
You must have a right to work in the UK, have a clean and current UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle (an essential car users allowance and business use mileage rate are provided). The successful candidate will also have to agree to a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check being carried out. Previous work references will be taken up for the successful candidate. Phone, IT and essential office equipment will be supplied.
Salary range from £30,000 to £35,000 per annum
Closing Date For Applications - 4th March 2025
