Commercial Dispute Resolution Lawyer (NQ - 2 years PQE)

Location: Inverness or Elgin or surrounding areas Application Deadline: 10 July 2024...

Our firm in the north
We’ve been part of the Highlands, Islands and Moray community for 20 years, but our links stretch
back more than 40 years. Our firm in the north is growing and we want you to be part of our future.

In our 20 years in the region, we’ve helped to start and develop the careers of hundreds of lawyers.
As well as clear development opportunities, you’ll get to work on varied and fulfilling cases which
really matter to the people and organisations across the area. We help individuals and families
experiencing major life events, while supporting some of the Highlands’ most high-profile businesses
and organisations such as major infrastructure providers, renewable energy companies, the marine
and rural economies, and community groups.

We are recruiting for a lawyer to join our highly acclaimed Dispute Resolution team. We are one of the largest litigation teams in the country. We are routinely instructed in some of the highest profile cases in the Scottish Courts. The team and many of our individual practitioners are consistently recognised by Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500.

We deal with a broad range of commercial and other civil disputes for a mix of private and public sector clients, including high value and complex litigated cases in the Court of Session and Sheriff Court. We also regularly represent clients in appeals to the Supreme Court.

The role can be hybrid, with the office base in Inverness or Elgin.

The role will be varied, challenging and will involve advising clients on contentious matters across the full range of specialisms practised by the team, including property litigation; contentious private client matters; contract disputes; debt recovery, professional negligence, contentious construction and engineering projects and IP disputes. The role will include providing advice to our public sector clients, as well as those in the private sector.

Ideally the successful applicant will be NQ – 2 years PQE but we are open to considering all levels.

The successful applicant will be client-focussed and organised, with strong interpersonal and
technical skills and an attention to detail. They should be able to work confidently in a fast-moving
environment and able to handle a challenging workload often with tight timescales set by courts.
