Applications are invited for the full time post of Consultant in Forensic Psychiatry based with NHS Grampian and Hosted MH services (Aberdeen City HSCP). Become an important part of our team, at the heart of delivering high quality, patient-centred care for the half-million people who live in Grampian.

Aberdeenshire includes some of the most spectacular countryside in Europe with Royal Deeside and the Cairngorm Mountain National Park and a wide range of outdoor pursuits within easy reach of the city. There are excellent connections with other British cities and the continent, flying time to London is one hour with more than 20 daily flights - and road and rail links are easily accessible.

It will be based predominantly within the Blair Unit, Royal Cornhill Hospital, Aberdeen and HMP Grampian. The successful candidate will be joining a Forensic Psychiatry multidisciplinary team which includes Nursing, Clinical Psychology and Occupational Therapy. The work will include out-patient and in-patient elements, with a component of Prison based work at HMP Grampian.

Candidates must have a higher medical qualification (MRCPsych. or equivalent). 

Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview. 

Alternatively, applicants should possess a CESR / CESR (CP).

Applications from doctors with appropriate specialist training and experience who are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register can be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive Consultant appointment is made. Whilst in locum employment, an application to obtain a CESR / CESR (CP) and entry onto the Specialist Register can be made.

Applications from candidates with other suitable experience will be considered, also those who wish to work fewer than stated sessions.
