About the department

The Multi-Asset and Alternatives Investment Specialist team is dedicated to the commercialisation of our businesses. The remit of the team is to build high levels of visibility for our capabilities both internally and externally. The team plays a key role by acting as the link between a range of internal- and external-facing teams. The Investment Specialist team is a global function including a team of four in the UK.

About the role

The role involves leading the Multi-Asset & Alternatives Investment Specialist team to cover three key areas 1. drive the commercial strategy for the asset class; 2. deliver unique content to promote our capabilities and 3. represent the asset class with clients and prospects.

The role is part of a Global Investment Specialists function, reporting to the Head of Commercial and Strategy, CIO Office. On a day-to-day basis, the role and team are part of and sit with the Multi-Asset & Alternatives Investment teams. The role also reports to the Chief Operating Officer, Alternatives and Multi-Asset.

Key priorities for the role include:

  • Leading the investment specialists team to ensure resources and talent are allocated to drive the commercial plan.

  • Collaborating with Client Group colleagues to drive activity on our funds, partnering with sales to identify new opportunities and target gatekeepers and championing the creation and execution of campaigns. 

  • Delivering unique content to promote capabilities. Investment specialists are responsible for creating and distributing unique content to promote their asset class. This includes content for RFPs, white papers, research reports, and blog posts.

  • Representing the teams at external meetings including clients, prospects, media and external events. This includes initial prospect meetings with large clients or the full end-to-end sales process with smaller/mid-size clients.

  • Work closely with the Product and Client teams to support the new product development process develop messaging, market testing and, and launches.

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will bring extensive investment specialist experience in Multi-Asset and Alternatives and be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong knowledge of Investment markets and relevant products.  Experience working within an Asset Managers and/or consultant firm.

  • A clear understanding of the drivers of investment/distribution success.

  • Strong people leader who can operate in global matrix organisations.

  • A strong working knowledge and experience of working within investment teams or client facing teams in a technical sales role.  

  • A good working knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment relating to the products of the team.
