Kyle and Lochalsh Community Trust, was established in 2012 and is committed to delivering social, economic and environmental benefit to the area.   We are looking for a dynamic leader as Trust Manager to develop our ambitions and to support our highly motivated team of employees and volunteers.    Based in Kyle,  you will work closely with our Board of Trustees and the team to ensure that all our activities are managed effectively and our strategic vision of long term sustainability and continued community benefit are fulfilled.

Requirements

The Trust is committed to continuing the development of The Plock as a community and environmental asset, evolving the impact of its Reuse Shop and in maintaining our other assets such as the toilets, showers, and laundry.  We have applied for funding to create a College of the Environment on the Plock, which will include a building to enhance the learning experience,

We are in discussion with Forest and Land Scotland and the Scottish Land Fund to buy two areas of land in Ratagan and Sàraig to build affordable houses; small business units and to repurpose part of the area for cultivation and woodland crofts. We are also exploring the possibility of developing a camp site. 

You will have proven management and leadership experience and will be familiar with the challenges and rewards involved in community development. You will be an experienced fundraiser with a good knowledge of community development.  You will be able to oversee several projects and manage competing priorities as well as providing strong leadership to the team and building effective relationships with the local community, public agencies, funders, and other stakeholders. 

The Trust Manager will be responsible for:

Oversight and timely delivery of all our projects, while ensuring that the overall running of the Trust is effective and efficient.

Developing and sourcing funding for new and continuing projects to work towards financial sustainability for the Trust. 

Effective staff management, ensuring good all-round communication and encouraging a culture of continuous improvement for all - leading by example. 

Identifying   fund raising opportunities - applying for and/or overseeing funding applications and liaising with funding bodies.

Supporting the Trustees to develop a strategic plan for sustainability

Building strong relationships in the community and with other key stakeholders such as public agencies and funders.

Partnership working is key to the long-term success of the Trust and the ability to create and manage partnerships will be crucial.  

Reporting to the Board of Trustees; organising and administering all trustee meetings and helping to ensure good governance. 

The successful applicant will be offered the post initially on a 6-month probationary period. The job will be 35 hours per week and flexible working arrangements maybe negotiated. It is anticipated that the job will be based in the Trust’s Office in Kyle.  The post carries 33 days annual leave (inclusive of public holidays) and employer pension contributions of 5%. 

Salary - £30, 000 - £35,000 dependant on experience
