About the department

The Security and Resilience Control Centre (SaRCC) at abrdn provides an integrated technical security capability, global oversight of operational footprint and travellers, and serves as the single point of contact and escalation for the Global Incident Management Structure. The SaRCC operates 24/7/365, staffed by a Controller and Operator who report to and are supported by the SaRCC Specialist. The SaRCC Operator is crucial in operating, monitoring, and providing technical security surveillance across the abrdn estate via the Integrated Technical Security Systems.

About the role

As a SaRCC Operator, you will support and direct Security Officer personnel, promote effective communication and collaboration, and maintain technical security and building management systems within the SaRCC. Your responsibilities include supporting the training and development of staff, reporting inappropriate conduct, and ensuring adherence to operational processes and procedures. You will play a key role in incident management, prioritizing alarms and phone calls, and ensuring a swift and effective response to maintain building security and staff safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate, monitor, and provide technical security surveillance across the abrdn estate.

  • Support Incident Management, including Command and Control of security incidents.

  • Maintain and manage Integrated Technical Security Systems and global Travel Tracking Systems.

  • Issue clear instructions, manage alarms and phone calls, and ensure adherence to Quality Assurance principles.

  • Monitor CCTV Systems and emergency phone lines, ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018.

About the candidate requirements

The successful candidate will bring proven security experience and will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience in an operations or security control room environment.

  • Knowledge of Incident Management processes, Command and Control, Access Control, CCTV, and Intruder Detection Systems.

  • Strong decision-making skills under pressure and the ability to prioritize tasks.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Email.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly in telephone and written communications.

  • Strong team player, reliable, responsible, and able to remain calm under pressure.

  • Self-motivated with corporate security sector experience.
