Our Adviser business provides financial planning solutions and technology for UK financial advisers, enabling them to bring value for their businesses and their clients. The Adviser Change team is a specialised function, supporting the development and transformation of abrdn’s award winning open-architecture platforms; Wrap and Elevate; as well as the broader change agenda of abrdn’s Adviser business. 

We are about more than technology. The primary focus of our team in Adviser Change is to provide abrdn with solutions to enable the successful delivery of business objectives of our Adviser Business and beyond.  To achieve this, our Readiness Managers take a flexible and pragmatic approach to ensuring all Change is shaped and delivered safely across the business.

Depending on your specific skills and experience, you will have the opportunity to work on small change through to large transformation programmes, with varying levels of complexity.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for delivering change across different work-package(s) ensuring delivery is to time, scope - and that the business is ready to accept the change that is being delivered. 
  • Be responsible for readiness activities throughout the project lifecycle to ensure the appropriate business area can embed change effectively.
  • Drive the readiness outcomes needed from our third parties and ensure these are tracked through delivery.
  • Working with IT, business change and business SMEs to ensure all deliverables are well understood, effectively delivered within the context of projects and work-streams you are assigned to work on
  • Have an understanding of how key systems operate and understand how they support the business, e.g. FNZ Platform, K2, Paragon, Salesforce, AWS, CASS oversight tools etc
  • Responsible for process re-engineering; ensuring effective oversight and controls are built in.
  • All business readiness activities, including colleague training and business continuity considerations.
  • Understanding the project’s people impacts and communication needs
  • Support and/or co-ordinate UAT and Release validation for Operational areas by validating test scenarios and performing tests to ensure changes are ready to use, post Release.
  • Applies appropriate project management capabilities i.e. planning, resourcing, scheduling, monitoring, reporting and risk, issue and dependency management.
  • Responsible for feeding, reporting, and presenting on work-package status to the Project or Programme Manager, other key stakeholders and senior management as required.
  • Responsible for setting and managing the quality of deliverables for projects ensuring that appropriate standards are applied.
  • Where appropriate, ensure the delivered project meets the needs of the business as specified in the original requirements and that the agreed quality standards have been met.
  • Working closely with 3rd Party Suppliers to ensure delivery meets requirements and customer outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience – Essential:

  • Must have a strong understanding of the Operations function within a financial services business context (asset management, platform business or third party administrator highly desirable).
  • Experience of delivering complex change across the business or delivering operational change.
  • Experience of managing the move of complex operational processes and the updating of Process Maps and Procedures Documents
  • Good understanding of process controls and how they feed into oversight and control of outsourced processes.
  • Experience of business readiness from small change through to transformation programmes or projects – and can evidence experience of preparing teams for change and ensuring everything is planned and communicated.
  • Dynamic and proactive – need Change Managers that have the drive that we need to deliver.
  • Problem solving - ability to understand challenges and help find resolutions.
  • Ability to quickly assess a situation and determine the correct next steps and priority tasks for the team to focus on.
  • Commercial awareness, understanding of how to apply a commercial lens to discussions and decisions.
  • Experience, knowledge and understanding within the Life & Pensions industry is highly desirable.
