Fish Farm Manager

Dawnfresh Farming Ltd is the largest Trout Farming Company operating in the UK with farms located throughout Scotland and Northern Ireland. We have an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and highly motivated individual to undertake the role of Farm Manager for our freshwater site at Braevallich, near Lochgilphead.

The role is a crucial part of our operations process and business and ensures that the best management of our fish is undertaken. We need our managers to strive for continuous improvement and deliver on all aspects of farm work to keep the team on track and performing well. The job includes, but is not limited to

  • Accountability for the safe and successful operation of your site;
  • Effectively manage a production team;
  • Responsible for all aspects of farm operations;
  • Maintaining the highest standards in fish husbandry and welfare;
  • Leading on feeding, control and inspection of fish;
  • Maintaining reliable data records;
  • Budget control and management.

  Ideal candidate:

The ideal candidate will already be an experienced farm manager or an assistant manager looking to further their career. They will be willing to expand their understanding and work hard on the job.

  • Previous salmonid farming experience is essential;
  • People management experience;
  • Extensive fish husbandry, biology and welfare experience;
  • Flexible approach to working to meet the demands of the job;
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn;
  • Ability to understand the aims of the site and to support the rest of the team to achieve these;
  • Respect for the need for safe working practices;
  • High degree of computer literacy;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with employees across the organization in a team orientated environment;
  • Dependable and has a strong work ethic;
  • Willingness to participate in learning and development opportunities.
