JOB TITLE:   Engineering Lead 

SALARY: £86,964 - £102,310 

LOCATION: Edinburgh 

HOURS:  Full time 

WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in the Edinburgh office.

As an Engineering Lead in the Retirement Platform, you’ll deliver great experiences to help Customers consider, plan and take action for their best Retiremetn, shaping high performing teams and drive engineering excellence. 

  • Help to define, communicate, and implement our engineering strategy across the Lab. This includes, focusing on methods, and approaches; working with others to implement and embed within our end-to-end engineering activity.  

  • Shape and deliver technical solutions that can be utilised across multiple entities across the platform and group. 

  • Work with product owners, architects, and other stakeholders to define and execute the software engineering roadmap, scope, and work. 

  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues and challenges that arise during the software development lifecycle. 

  • Mentor and coach, the software engineering teams, developing their skills and career growth. 

  • Help in adopting best engineering practices like Test Driven Development, Code standards, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery. 

  • Be a great teammate who can build relationships and collaborate efficiently with other teams across a variety of domains. 

  • Play an active part in the Engineering Leadership team, supporting others & directly reporting into the Lab Engineering Lead.

What you’ll need 

  • A strong Engineering background with broad knowledge of tools, techniques, and platforms, including cloud hosting. Our stack is predominantly JavaScript, Node, React and GCP. 

  • Experience of leading and embedding engineering transformation initiatives across teams & the Lab.  

  • Hands-on proven experience of delivering systems design, software development, testing and operational stability. 

  • Proven experience and knowledge of automation and CI/CD 

  • The knowledge and ability to lead diverse engineering change, including technical deliveries and engineering improvements, utilising efficient agile methodologies.  

  • Expected to Line Manage others in the Lab, help coach & mentor other developments.  

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills and an enthusiasm for advocating best practice across Product & Engineering.
