We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, experienced and qualified Biomedical Scientist to join our multi-disciplinary Laboratory team at the most northerly hospital in the UK as a specialist Biomedical Scientist for a fixed term until end March 2026 supporting the department with the ongoing Scottish National LIMS project.

The department is the first Laboratory to go live with Magentus Evolution LIMS in Scotland as part of the national project. This role would give the successful candidate a unique opportunity for hands on experience of this new system which will be rolled out to 12 Scottish health boards over the coming years. This role will enable you to utilise your scientific expertise and workflow familiarity while developing knowledge and skills in Laboratory IT systems. Exact duties will be dependent on your skill set but could include assisting with the documentation, validation and/or verification of all changes / updates made to the LIMS, carrying out queries on the laboratory data for statistical analysis such as workload or turnaround times, plus change control and supporting the management of laboratory information systems.

You will be able to bring a dynamic and enthusiastic approach to the role, and have proven knowledge and skills within your disciplinary specialism. There may be an opportunity to undertake training within the multidisciplinary environment for the right candidate with participation in the on call roster and lab based shifts.

If you are a motivated team player with the ability to work autonomously and would like to work as a key member of a busy team, then we would love to hear from you. We are open to working with the right candidate to build a role to support the departmental aims and staff development.
