The Orkney Isles are located approximately 6 miles off the northern tip of Scotland and are well connected to the UK mainland with air and sea links. A very welcoming, diverse and vibrant community of approximately 22,000 people spread over Orkney mainland and surrounding islands. Orkney offers low pollution, low crime, excellent schools and leisure facilities, unique wildlife and the most amazing scenery where traffic jams are almost unheard of.

The integrated Occupational therapy team are seeking a skilled and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our service. This post works, in conjunction with other members of the learning disability multi-disciplinary team, to meet the occupational needs of adults with Learning Disabilities in Orkney.

Applicants will have experience in providing Occupational Therapy assessment/intervention. Effective communication, organisational and time management skills are essential as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The postholder will also support the general community team caseload.

You should hold a Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy and be a registered Occupational Therapist with the HCPC.

In return we can offer you the opportunity to work in a small dynamic team where you are able to influence service change and improvement, access a regular CPD training programme and where multi disciplinary working is prioritised. We offer the opportunity for job shadowing and also have strong links with the Grampian Learning Disability team who provide clinical supervision to the postholder.

We will consider applications for limited term appointments or to work less hours.

We are currently discussing the creation of a rotation with the service and this post would form part of that rotation.

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect to regulated work with children and adults.
