Welcome to NHS Highland. Belford Hospital is a Rural General Hospital delivering care to a local population of 20 000 which increases to 80 000 in the summer months.

Belford theatre is a stand-a-lone unit delivering perioperative and endoscopy services in a compact and bijoux setting.

We provide intra operative care for a range of specialties including general surgery, colorectal, gynaecology, orthopaedics and endoscopy. Our workload is diverse and no two days are ever the same! As part of the theatre team we assist in other areas of the hospital including the Emergency department.

Our working hours are Mon – Fri 08.30 – 17.30 with an out of hours on call team thereafter inclusive of weekends and public holidays.

The post holder will undertake and supervise clinical practice including participating in the on call rota (typically 1 in 4 weeks inclusive)

We can offer a Band 6 to Band 7 development opportunity for the right candidate.

We are looking for a highly motivated, dedicated and innovative registered practitioner (NMC/ HCPC registrant) to join and lead our theatre team. Our aim is to continuously deliver high quality, safe patient care in the perioperative setting.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective and efficient operational day to day management of the practice setting, including standards of care, budget management and control, clinical governance, staff development and training.

The post holder is professionally accountable for the maintenance of standards of care, providing professional clinical leadership within the practice setting and to provide direction and inspirational leadership to all staff and multi-disciplinary team.

Innovative and effective use of resources is essential.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
