We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and proactive Pharmacist for input to individual GP Practices, Community Hospitals and other care settings within the Cowal and Bute locality. This role will involve working with a variety of different health care professionals across primary and secondary care to support and improve patient care.
Job roles will include:
- Providing a safe and effective clinical pharmacy service and pharmaceutical input to ensure high quality, safe, evidence-based, rational, legal and cost-effective prescribing and medicines management in line with current legislation, local and national guidelines.
- Work as a key member of GP practice and other multidisciplinary teams. Support the delivery of strategic and operational prescribing priorities.
- Provide education, advice and support to multidisciplinary teams on medicine and prescribing related topics.
- Undertakes teaching, supervision of foundation training year (pre-reg) pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy support workers and students.
Full training will be provided and further development opportunities within the team will be available over time.
The post will involve travelling to a number of locations so a full, current driving licence and use of own car for work purposes is essential.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
