Speech & Language Therapist, Band 5 (2 posts)

Full Time (37 hours per week) Permanent – Dundee

Part Time (22 hours per week) permanent -Perth

You will work within the Children’s Speech and Language Therapy service to support children with a wide range of speech, language and communication problems including those with formal Additional Support for Learning plans.  You will be based in Dundee or in Perth but will be required to work flexibly across NHS Tayside in schools and community settings as well as in health settings. You must be willing to travel between a number of sites.


You will bring knowledge and skills in working with young children and an understanding of disability and how to support children with additional needs and their families.  You will also be working in universal and targeted models to support attainment in nurseries and schools. The work is wide ranging and includes joint work with partners in other agencies. You will join a supportive team where professional development is supported and encouraged. All newly qualified therapists are supported to complete the Flying Start programme.

Hours of work are:  37 or 22 hours per week

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
