As an Engineering Lead in our Labs, you’ll deliver great customer experiences, shape high performing teams and drive engineering excellence. You’ll lead a multi-disciplined team of engineers, shape solutions and take accountability for delivery. You’ll be passionate about technology, both current and future trends, and will look for opportunities to bring these into the Lab. You’ll be a role model for your team and colleagues around you.
- Help to define, communicate, and implement our engineering strategy across the Lab. This includes, focusing on methods, and approaches; working with others to implement and embed within our end-to-end engineering activity.
- Shape and deliver technical solutions that can be utilised across multiple entities across the platform and group.
- Work with product owners, architects, and other stakeholders to define and execute the software engineering roadmap, scope, and work.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues and challenges that arise during the software development lifecycle.
- Mentor and coach, the software engineering teams, developing their skills and career growth.
- Help in adopting best engineering practices like Test Driven Development, Code standards, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery.
- Be a great teammate who can build relationships and collaborate efficiently with other teams across a variety of domains.
- Play an active part in the Engineering Leadership team, supporting others & directly reporting into the Lab Engineering Lead (Band G).

What you’ll need
- A strong Engineering background with broad knowledge of tools, techniques, and platforms. Our stack is predominantly JavaScript, Node, React and GCP.
- Experience of leading and embedding engineering transformation initiatives across teams & the Lab.
- Hands-on skills to deliver systems design, software development, testing and operational stability.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills, able to work and influence across functional boundaries. A broad working knowledge of different engineering and software design solutions across all facets of technology (including DevOps, data, automation, hosting, language, platform choices etc).
- Experience of navigating a complex systems architecture comprised of modern and legacy solutions, and in-house and product solutions.
- An ability to manage complex delivery - bringing together teams from within and outside the Bank to successfully deliver a shared outcome.
- The knowledge and ability to lead diverse engineering change, including technical deliveries and engineering improvements, utilising efficient agile methodologies.
- Experience of leading, line managing, mentoring, and coaching teams of engineers, to build a world class engineering capability and a strong team culture.
