We have an excellent opportunity for a Health & Safety Advisor, based in Fort William. Reporting to the Head of Safety & Compliance you will be part of a small SHEQ team; playing a key role in day-to-day Health and Safety operations across the business.
At Ferguson Transport & Shipping we have always proudly held onto our family-founded values, especially when it comes to customer service. So no matter how far we’ve come, we’re determined to be large enough to offer a comprehensive range of logistic services but still small enough to care.
Our independence means we can be truly flexible, adapting our solutions to meet the specific needs of our customers rather than trying to fit them into a ‘one size fits all’ package.
The Health & Safety Officer will be based at our Head Office in Corpach, Fort William and will report to Head of Safety & Compliance.
The role will include, but is not confined to:
- Undertake scheduled safety inspections at all depots/yards/premises.
- Interface with our port and pier operations and with our DPA for marine and port activities.
- Keep abreast of any changes or amendments to H&S or Corporate Social Responsibilities legislation and communicate these to staff members when required.
- Undertake annual audits of the Health & Safety inspections and follow up on actions.
- Review risk assessments as required and provide advice to risk owners regarding legislative requirements and industry best practices concerning risk control measures.
- Provide input to the annual review of the Health & Safety policy.
- Prepare new safety/working procedures in collaboration with risk owners for all aspects of the business when required.
- Contribution to and/or lead incident investigation.
What you can expect:
- Salary up to £40k;
- Excellent scope to develop your career;
- A well-equipped modern office environment with parking
- Training & development opportunities;
- 28 days paid leave per annum (pro-rata), enhanced with service;
- Loyalty bonus payment scheme;
- Employer contributory pension scheme;
- Occupational health care;
- Group life assurance;
- Employee assistance programme
Ferguson Transport & Shipping provide clear routes for career progression and offer a range of opportunities for training, development and up skilling to help people get to the next level.
