The Procurement Officer will assist the Capital Programme Service in the procurement and delivery of goods and services to the Council. They will be responsible for developing category strategies with the Procurement Manager, Budget Responsible Officers and departmental teams as appropriate. They will assist in negotiations of a complexity and value appropriate to their role and the category upon which they are working.  They will be expected to ensure customer compliance with established best practice, governance, legislation, best value, efficient and effective business processes and good supplier relationship management.  They will assist in the course of procuring projects, and consequently some project management skills will be required. 

This vacancy is being advertised as a Career Graded post, which is a career development opportunity. This means that the Council is committed to supporting the successful candidate to obtain the necessary skills, abilities and knowledge to become fully competent in the role. The successful candidate will be supported to become fully competent in the role and progress through the career grade. Where there is a requirement to achieve a qualification, this will be fully funded by the Council.
